Unión Deportiva Logroñés is a professional football club created from Club Deportivo Varea, a historic team based in the Logroño neighborhood of the same name and founded in 1967. In 2009, CD Varea achieved a historic promotion to the Second Division B and the new club, Unión Deportiva Logroñés, took its place in the bronze category of Spanish football, incorporating at the same time a fully professional structure that did not exist until then in the entity.

The new club started its entire structure from scratch, from the staff to stadium management, communications, kits, the crest, the youth teams, relations with institutions and other clubs in La Rioja... it was necessary to start from the ground up in order to have a professional base on which to grow, with clear values ​​of order, seriousness, hard work, and identification with La Rioja.
