AD Alcorcón was founded in 1971. After many years of suffering and ups and downs in the Spanish league's second division B, they achieved their most successful season, which launched them to fame and will surely be long remembered by their fans, in 2009, when they achieved the long-awaited promotion to the 2nd Division. This was also the year in which they achieved one of the most talked-about achievements in Spanish football, the so-called "Alcorconazo", when they eliminated Real Madrid from the Copa del Rey, with a 4-0 win at home and only losing 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
